"Studying in France gave me a great variety of classes and opportunities I wouldn’t have had at home, and I still stayed on track with my computer science major. I had so many unique experiences in France, and I didn’t have to sacrifice anything academically… I didn’t even have to give up surfing on the weekends!"

Many UCSB students graduate from abroad
each year. With a little planning, you can too!
- Petitioning to Graduate From Abroad: The reporting and posting of grades for courses taken abroad may take as much as one quarter after you return. Therefore, you must postpone filing a petition to graduate until one quarter following completion of EAP. For example, a student completing the necessary requirements in spring of 2006, would file for inclusion on the fall 2006 list of candidates. If your EAP program ends in time, it may be possible for you to return to UCSB and walk in graduation ceremonies. Please note that you cannot leave early from your EAP program to attend graduation. Click here (http://www.ia.ucsb.edu/commencement/index.shtml)for information on commencement.
- Exceeding 200 Units While Abroad: Please request a Senior Progress Check from the Registrar’s Office. Review your Progress Check and graduation plans with your college (L&S, etc.). If you think you are likely to exceed 200 units, you should meet with your college advisor.
- EAP Grades: It is not possible to obtain grades early! If you know that you need grades for graduate school applications or employment, please contact your campus EAP advisor. They can send a letter verifying that you participated on EAP and explain that grades are slow to arrive.
NOTE: If your grades are not reported to the UCSB Registrar’s Office in sufficient time for you to be included on the list of graduating candidates for the desired term, you must file a new petition for the following term. Your name will NOT be transferred to the following term automatically. Refer to http://www.registrar.ucsb.edu for more graduation information.
- If You Do Not Graduate Abroad as Expected: You are required to return to UCSB and take a minimum of 12 units.
