Scholarships

Each year EAP students receive over $1 million in need-based and other EAP scholarships typically ranging from $500 to $3,000, varying by program. Awards are based primarily on the cost of a particular EAP program and a student's financial circumstances. These scholarships supplement all other types of financial aid awarded through the campus financial aid offices, for which EAP students are still eligible (UC, California state, federal aid).

UCSB SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

UCSB SCHOLARSHIPS:

UCSB EAP Special Financial Need Scholarship

A limited number of awards are available from an emergency fund designated for UCSB EAP students who do not currently receive financial aid but who have special financial need related to study abroad.  In certain cases, students who receive financial aid may also be considered.  Please talk to your EAP advisor.

EAP Scholarships for Financial Aid Recipients
EAP scholarship funds are provided by the Office of the President directly to the UCSB Financial Aid Office and are awarded to eligible EAP financial aid recipients based on need.  These awards are assigned by the Financial Aid Office; no application is needed.

UCSB GRANTS:

Jeanie Anderson Memorial Fund Undergraduate Research/Creative Projects Grant for Students on Year-long Programs

Jeanie Anderson

These grants will provide resources to pursue learning beyond the classroom for students on year-long programs and/or allow them to establish unique relationships abroad to expand his or her learning experience.  Many of a student’s personal goals and dreams for international study can be translated into a grant proposal.  In the past, grants have been awarded for $500 to $1,000.  Some past projects have included “Acoustic Map: Sounds of Germany,” “Comparing Recycling Programs across Western Europe,” “Invasive Plant Species on the Island of Fernando de Noronha, Brazil,” “Flamenco Music Project,” and “The Scandinavian Response to the War in Iraq.”

Click here for more information on this fund (Pdf).

This fund was established to remember Jeanie Anderson by providing grants to students studying abroad.  Jeanie was a UCSB student who was selected along with her three roommates to participate in EAP in 1972.  After arriving in Bordeaux, France, she traveled to the north of Spain where she tragically drowned.
