Chile

The consulate of Chile requires that health clearances be completed no later than 30 days before a student applies for the student visa. The consulate also requires an MD signature. In addition, all health clearance forms must have a SHS/UC stamp or the private physician's stamp (validation stamp).

Students must retain their original. Copies are not accepted.

Only students applying through San Francisco Consulate need an HIV test certificate for their visa. The HIV test is not required by the Los Angeles consulate at this time.

Severe air pollution exists in Santiago, especially during winter months (May-August). Air pollution occurs to a lesser extent in the Chilean countryside. Students with asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis should expect an increase in respiratory symptoms.

China

Beijing Normal and Peking Univ (Year programs only)- Completion of Chinese health form (included in your online packet) is required. Title of this form is "Physical Examination Record for Foreigner".

Student must submit the originals of all test results and clearance papers. Copies are not acceptable. Students must take all originals with them to China. Students will have to repeat some tests in China after arrival if all original test results are not given to students or if test results are unclear.

An official stamp from SHS or private physician is required next to the physician's signature on the on the Chinese health form.

Students who are extending from fall to the year do not have to complete Chinese health form or tests.

Egypt

HIV test will be given by Egyptian Ministry of Health within one to three months after arrival in Egypt.

France Year Students Only- A medical exam will be given after arrival in France for the purpose of the residence permit.
Germany The legal maximum limit for pharmaceutical products allowed to bring in the country is the quantity required to meet the student's personal needs during the trip. Students are advised to carry a doctor's prescription or statement concerning the medication in question.
Ghana

Students should carry a supply of any needed prescription medicines, along with copies of the prescriptions, including the generic name for the drugs, and a supply of preferred over-the-counter medications.

EAP students have become seriously ill with malaria due to ineffective adherence to anti-malarial pills and lack of follow up with effective personal protective measures.

India AIDS test will be given after arrival in India.
Japan US prescriptions are not honored in Japan. Travelers with ongoing prescription medicine needs should arrive with a sufficient supply to see them through their stay in Japan, or enough until they are able to see a local care provider. Travelers must bring a copy of their doctor's prescription as well as a letter stating the purpose of the drug. Japanese physicians can often prescribe similar, but not identical, substitutes to medicines available in the U.S.
Singapore Year Students only- a Medical Report (an official document) is required. Due to time limitations for submission is is typically completed once students arrive in Singapore. The NUS University Health and Wellness Center will assist students with this requirement upon arrival. HIV and TB chest x-ray are compulsory components of the medical examination.
Spain If staying over 180 days (all year students), the Spanish Consulate requires the submission of a letter not older than two month (plus two photocopies) typed on the physician's stationary verifying the the students is 1. In good physical health, 2. in good mental health, 3. free of contagious disease, 4. free from infectious disease and 5. free from drug addiction. Each of these five items must be specified and this letter must be signed by a medical doctor (not a health practitioner).
