Travel & Immunization Clinic

This is a separate appointment from your Health Clearance! This means 2 different appointments!

Required for Barbados, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Mexico, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.

  1. Book your appointment by going in person to the peer kiosk at SHS. At the kiosk, sign up in the EAP Health Appointment Binder. There are only a few assigned appointment days and times for each country and they fill up quickly.
  2. The travel clinic is designed to discuss the health risks that you may face abroad and to obtain any immunizations that you may need or want. Some immunizations need to be started months before your departure date, which is why it is important to stick to the designated travel clinic dates for your country.
  3. Bring an updated list of prior immunizations that you have had. Your parent, doctor or last attended high school may supply you with this information. If you do not bring in your immunization records, you will be asked to reschedule and fees will be applied.
  4. You need to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to read over your personalized travel packet. This helps prepare you for the ensuing discussion. If you are late for this part of the appointment, you may be asked to reschedule!
  5. When you see the nurse s/he will review your immunization history, and make recommendations for any boosters needed.
  6. The nurse will discuss the country-specific recommendations/requirements with you and will allow you to ask any questions that you have. Refer to the Traveler’s Vaccine Information page for more information regarding specific vaccines as well as useful health information websites.
  7. Any immunizations you choose to receive will probably be started that day, and additional shots will be ordered for you to receive through the Urgent Care Clinic on a walk-in basis.
  8. You will be charged $40.00 for this visit plus the cost of any vaccines needed. All charges will be billed to your BARC account. If you wish to pay with cash or check, you may do so at the cashier’s counter in the lobby after your visit.

FEES:
Travel Clinic………………………………..$40.00 + cost of any vaccines
Fee for missed appointment……………….$45.00*
Reschedule fee……………………………..$50.00

* If you call Student Health and cancel your appointment 24 hours ahead of time, you will not be charged the missed appointment fee.
